  • Hello. Welcome to my blog!

Please check out our new fine art photography and graphic design business! www.paulandjewel.com

This blog is no longer active but it is a great chronicle through my initial first few years as a photographer. The blog started while I was at photography school in Massachusetts, covers my time working in Florida and Georgia, and chronicles our recent 6 month adventure working with orphans in Thailand. Thanks for visiting!

Just Sayin’ Hey

Hey there! Just wanted to tell you all to expect a post full of new photos soon! On Wednesday morning I’m turning in my Phase III Mandatory Assignments (i.e. third quarter finals), so I’ll be getting caught up with posts shortly thereafter. Until then, wish me luck as I plug away at editing/design work/retouching/printing! Hope you’re all doing well.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy  Valentine’s Day! I still have some retouching/post-processing to do with these, but I wanted to go ahead and share them. I had a lot of fun spending time with Cody in the studio a couple of weeks ago (thank you again, Cody, for all of your time and help); it was an absolute pleasure! I think I’m going to turn the first image in for my Phase III Low Key Black and White Male assignment.

New England Aquarium

This is what I photographed for my Phase III Interior Architectural assignment. I wanted to do something a little different. Its actually a few different photos meshed into one in Photoshop using a technique called High Dynamic Range.  I shot separate exposures for the tank, the bright areas, and the dark areas, then combined them in Photoshop. What do you think?

“Say ‘icecream’!”

I was lucky enough to have these precious 4 year-old twins come model for me in the studio this past week! I had a ridiculous amount of fun with them; I hope they had some fun too despite the really bright lights. Child portraiture is something I absolutely love doing, and I’m excited to do more. Taking pictures of my buddy Ezra when he was about 1.5-2 years old was one of the things that really got me hooked on photography. I think I’m going to use the fourth image as my Phase 3 Studio Child Portrait submission; what do you think? Stay tuned for more images I shot this week: PR, sport, and black and white portraiture.

January personal work

Here are some of my favorite personal images from January.

Boston, Sarah, Checkmate, and The Old Violin

Hello! Here are some images from the past couple of weeks. This week I’m really excited to be doing some studio sessions with 4-year-old twins, a male model, and a hockey player. I’m also working on processing aquarium and Tofuagogo pictures so please check back soon to have a look!

Sarah and I got together last weekend and took some pictures in the snow. Thank you for modeling for me, Sarah! This is one of my favorites from the shoot:
