Jewel Imaging Blog bio picture
  • Hello. Welcome to my blog!

Please check out our new fine art photography and graphic design business! www.paulandjewel.com

This blog is no longer active but it is a great chronicle through my initial first few years as a photographer. The blog started while I was at photography school in Massachusetts, covers my time working in Florida and Georgia, and chronicles our recent 6 month adventure working with orphans in Thailand. Thanks for visiting!

Perfect Symphony

I’m now an alumni of the Hallmark Institute of Photography! The end of the school year was definitely bittersweet. I learned so much from my professors and also from my classmates, and derived so much inspiration from them, so it was hard to say goodbye. I know that the experience, knowledge, and skills attained this year at school will be invaluable as I embark in my career as a professional photographer, a career which I’m totally psyched to officially begin.
On Sunday I finished moving out of my apartment in Massachusetts and began my road-trip to Florida (where I’ll start my new job soon). I must look pretty comical out on the road with all of my belongings stuffed into my little volvo. I’ve passed through Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware (?), Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I’m currently in Georgia and will be here for a few more nights before continuing the drive down to the Keys! This is my summer vacation. I’ve been spending time with loved ones old and new and we have been watching fireflies, swimming with wild dolphins, and listening to perfect symphonies.

Masquerade

This is Justine. An aspiring model, a neuroscience major,  a total sweetheart, and obviously a bombshell. We had less than an hour to shoot and it was only her second time modeling, but she kicked ass. I used two other photos of her in my final school portfolio (couples and additional personal submission). Its rare that I get so many images out of a single photo-shoot that I love! I had fun processing them with different color, black and white, and split toning methods in Photoshop.
As a side note, this is my last week of school. Graduation is this Friday! I’m still in denial that its over. The year disappeared so quickly! I’m really going to miss my classmates and teachers (and the school’s amazing studios and labs). If you’re in New England and want to come to the ceremony let me know and I will send the details your way, it should be fun!

Karen and Ez

These images date back to Christmas break in Oregon. Karen and Ez (and the other family members) are dear friends of mine. Ezra was a good sport even though he didn’t particularly want to be outside in the park that chilly December afternoon. These are just too dang adorable not to share, even if they aren’t too current. I haven’t seen the West Coast in over half of a year! I enjoy my galavanting ways but I do miss Ashland, The Pacific Northwest, and the incredible people there.
Moms are good for balance.

And cuddles.
Tickles, too!
Look at his expression here! It cracks me up.
What a beautiful mother and son.
